SHSS Hosts the Urban League of Broward County

Community Resolution Services (CRS) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences recently hosted the staff of the YouthBuild program and sixteen of their trainees as they participated in a CRS Apprentice event. YouthBuild Broward works with young adults ages18-24 years old to earn their GED, receive vocational training, and gain important leadership and teambuilding skills.

CRS provides life skills training including: anger management; conflict resolution skills; and preparation for the workplace such as resume and cover letter writing, interview techniques, marketing yourself, and dealing with different and sometimes difficult people.

At the event, CRS staff played hiring managers and interviewed “applicants.” Each applicant was also in a team, which created, designed, and marketed new ideas and products.

For further information about CRS, please contact Erika Freeman at 954-262-4237 or efreeman@nova.edu or Judith McKay, J.D., Ph.D., and director of CRS at 954-262-3060 or mckayj@nova.edu.
