SHSS Doctoral Student Publishes Book on Social Justice

T.Y. Okosun, Ph.D., a doctoral student in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) has published his latest book entitled, “Social Justice and Increasing Global Destitution,” by University Press of America in Sept. 2009.

Okosun, who is pursuing his second doctoral degree in DCAR, is an Assistant Professor in the Justice Studies Program at Northeastern Illinois University and a core faculty member in the African and African American Studies Program. He is the Vice-President of the Justice Studies Association and serves on the Editorial Boards of the Contemporary Justice Review Journal and the International Research Journal of Arts and Humanities.

In addition to this accomplishment, Okosun’s oldest son, Tyamo Okosun, graduated in May with his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University’s Calumet campus at the age of fourteen. He credits his father who homeschooled him and is now in the doctoral engineering program at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus where he is pursuing mechanical engineering and aerospace.
