The Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) will host a presentation entitled: “Peace Building in Today's Iran: An Iranian Perspective” on July 10, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
The presentation will feature two topics and speakers:
"Peace Building through International Sports: Peace Building and Track II Diplomacy" with featured speaker:
Aliasghar Hadizadeh, the founder and president of the Iran Sports Federation for Blind Athletes. Hadizadeh has been involved in paraolympics in Iran for nearly 30 years. He was a bronze medalist at the Seoul Paralympics Games and also the gold medalist of the Ex-War Veteran Games in England in 1993. He was a soldier for nearly 10 years in the Iran/Iraq war. He has been involved in sports for the disabled for over three decades and is a key planner for an upcoming, seminal, joint US-Iranian sports event.
"Understanding Perspectives of the Current Iranian Government" with featured speaker Manouchehr Jafarzadeh, a member/representative of the Iranian Special Interests Section, located in the Embassy of Pakistan, in Washington, D.C. Since there are no formal diplomatic relations between the USA and Iran, this department primarily performs general consular services.
The event will be held in Room 2055 of the Maltz Building with a reception to follow. If you have any questions, please contact Erica Guterman at ext.23003 or via email at guterman@nova.edu.
