Joshia Osamba, Ph.D., a doctoral graduate of the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) has been named the Chair of the Department of History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies at Egerton University in Kenya.
Osamba was a Fulbright Scholar at DCAR and was also a Graduate Assistant for the department. He was one of the founding students of the African Working Group (AWG) in DCAR and was an NSU Knight. In 2003 Osamba received the Stuey Award as the NSU Alum of the Year.
After graduation, Osamba was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Duquesne University before returning to Kenya and his faculty position at Egerton University. Osamba has also been involved in training Kenyan military in topics such as peace, conflict resolution, and security studies. He has been widely published in journals such as the African Journal in Conflict Resolution, Africa Development, Nationalism and Ethnic Conflict, The Journal of InterGroup Relations, and ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law.
