SHSS Faculty and Students present at AAMFT Conference in Sacramento

Several faculty and doctoral students of the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) and a doctoral student in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) made presentations at the Annual Conference of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) held from Oct. 1-4 in Sacramento.

Faculty members James Hibel, Ph.D., associate professor, Tommie Boyd, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of DFT, Ronald Chenail, Ph.D., professor, and Christopher Burnett, Psy.D. associate professor, gave a presentation entitled, "How MFT Students become Different Using Core Competencies."

Faculty members Anne Rambo, Ph.D. associate professor and Tommie Boyd, Ph.D. gave a presentation entitled, "MFT's in School Settings: Getting In and Doing Well."

Faculty member Ronald Chenail, Ph.D. and DFT doctoral student Cynthia Somers and DCAR doctoral student Joy Benjamin presented their research: "An Exploratory Study: First and Last Session Progress Notes," and "MFT Progress Note Tipping Points: A Qualitative Analysis."

Chenail also presented with DFT doctoral students Randy Heller, Tyon Hall, and Lauryn Gilliam on: "Qualitative Description of Family Therapy Case Documentation."

Faculty member Shelley Green, Ph.D., Professor, and DFT doctoral candidate Lauryn Gilliam gave a presentation entitled "Sex, Lies, and Love: A Both/And Approach to Infidelity, Abuse, and Addiction."
